Some of the main cast included: Annie, played by Carly, Rooster, played by Sofia, Grace, by Sofia, Miss Hannigan, by Elora, Mr. Warbucks played by Jaila, and Lily, played by Chiara. The dancers were: Sarah, Lauren, Talisia, Juliana, Ava and Cassandra. Everyone enjoyed the three performances, which they claim were flawless. Both the cast and the stage crew did an amazing job. Yes, Maybe they did!
ORDINARY TO HEROIC
Last Friday, September the eighteenth, our school ran the Terry Fox run to raise money for cancer research.
This year is the thirty-fifth anniversary of the Terry Fox Run. Our school does this run because Terry Fox ran across Canada to raise money for cancer research. His run was originally named the Marathon of Hope. Thirty-five years ago, when Terry set out to run across Canada, he didn’t make it all the way. But he did run an astonishing length of 5373 km from St. John’s, Newfoundland to Thunder Bay, Ontario. This is where Terry was forced to end his run when the cancer spread to his lungs.
As you may already know, Terry’s leg was a prosthetic because he had bone cancer in his leg. When he found out about it, Terry was devastated that he was diagnosed with bone cancer. Soon after Terry ended his Marathon of Hope, Terry passed away sadly. The reason Terry Fox started his Marathon of Hope was to help people in the world who are fighting to beat cancer.
Terry Fox’s run has raised 650 million dollars for cancer research to date and has inspired people and schools worldwide to run their own “Marathon of Hope” each year to raise money for cancer research.
This is why we and other people around the world continue and respect Terry’s dream and legacy. Some of Terry’s famous quotes that will be remember for generations are: “If you have given a dollar, you are part of the Marathon of Hope.” This other quote was one of the most inspiring words of wisdom that Terry ever said: “Even if I don’t finish, we need others to continue. It’s got to keep going even without me.”
